We are excited to announce that the Texas Coalition for Adoption Reform and Education (TxCARE) has joined TXARC as a coalition partner, bringing to the coalition its long-standing Texas advocacy work and its commitment to birthparents and people impacted by adoption.
TxCARE was critical in a 2005 successful effort to change Texas law so that adoptees who know the names of birthparents may obtain a copy of the OBC. It has continued its work to secure an adoptee’s unrestricted right to request and obtain his or her own original birth record and has committed to that purpose as part of the coalition.
We welcome TxCARE to the coalition and look forward to working closely with their advocates in enacting HB1386/SB1877.
The Texas Adoptee Rights Coalition is a coalition of Texas and national organizations working to secure the right of all Texas adult adoptees to obtain their own original birth certificates, without discriminatory restrictions.
